Custom Paper Bags Wholesale Buying Guide
Paper bag sourcing starts with the product, load and customer journey. A width and unit price alone do not establish fit, carrying comfort or packed presentation.
Define contents and use
List the products, total load, orientation, moisture or grease exposure, carrying distance and reuse expectations. Identify food, retail, takeaway or gift use and any buyer-specific requirements.
Specify dimensions and construction
Record finished width, gusset and height, paper description, base style, handle type and attachment. Confirm how dimensions are measured and request the proposed construction in writing.
Test representative samples
- Load the intended products.
- Check fit, base stability and closure.
- Carry the bag using the normal route.
- Inspect handles, folds and printed areas.
- Review stacking and packing condition.
Approve artwork and packing
Use the supplier dieline and define colors, print position and approval stage. Request pieces per carton, carton dimensions, weights, labels and total shipment volume.

Frequently asked questions
What should a paper bag RFQ include?
State the contents, load, dimensions, paper and handle requirements, quantity by size, artwork, packing, destination, sample request and required documents.
Why test the actual contents?
Real products reveal fit, base stability, handle comfort, closure and appearance more reliably than dimensions alone.
What artwork files are needed?
Ask the supplier for the correct dieline, then provide approved artwork, color references, print position and viewing direction.
